Police say that they are probing the matter of the anti-India slogan "India Out" being sprayed on the walls of Shaviyani Funadhoo School.
Police said that the matter was reported to them around 11:38 am today and that they have begun their investigations into the accident.
They did not reveal any more information regarding the investigation.
This comes after the opposition ramped up their anti-India campaign and had begun traveling to the islands to further their efforts.
Former President and opposition leader Abdullah Yameen had been on some of their trips to the islands to further promote the campaign against Indian Military presence in the Maldives.
The opposition had traveled to islands in the Kaafu Atoll as well as some islands in Faafu Atoll.
They have also held successive anti-India rallies in the capital Male' to keep the momentum going.
This in turn had attracted heavy criticism from government-affiliated MPs and social media activists who had argued in favor of India.
