Health Protection Agency HPA has placed Gaafu Dhalu Gahdhoo under monitoring as the number of cases being reported in the inhabited islands across the country continues.
Gahdhoo joined 12 other islands currently under monitoring following outbreaks of COVID cases on the islands. Out of the 12, 4 islands were placed under monitoring on the 14th of this month.
This includes Shaviyani Funadhoo, Baa Dharavandhoo, Dhaalu Bandidhoo, and Laamu Gan.
While Haa Dhaalu Nelaidhoo and Laamu Funadhoo were placed under monitoring on the 8th of this month, Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaramfaru was placed under monitoring a day later.
The rest of the five islands in the list have been under monitoring since last month and they include Kaafu Thulusdhoo, Haa Dhaalu Naivadhoo, Dhaalu Hulhudheli, Kaafu Maafushi, and Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo.
Health Protection Agency HPA has reported a total of 3,866 new cases of COVID-19 in the country in the last 5 days and out of these 1,220 cases were confirmed from the inhabited islands.
