President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the public to get the COVID booster dose as soon as possible.

In a tweet today, President Solih said that the best defense against Covid19’s Omicron variant is to boost our vaccine immunity.

The President went on to say that the booster vaccine program is now open to the public and urged all to their booster shot if had been 6 months after they received their second dose of the vaccine.

Authorities in the Maldives began administering the booster dose to the general public today.

Public Health Officials have said that the booster dose would be administered to all above 18-years of age and that it would be given to those who have completed 6 months after receiving the 2nd dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (Covisheild/Astrazeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer).

Authorities in the Maldives are administering a dose of the Pfizer vaccine as the booster dose.

Officials have also said that it would be administered on an appointment basis and urged all to book theirs through the vaccine portal.

They had urged the public to arrive at the vaccination center 15 minutes before their appointment and to bring their identification card or any official document to verify their identity.
