Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that more than 1,700 people have tested for COVID-19 in the country in the last two days.
HPA had said on Thursday that a total of 816 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and that this includes 413 new cases from the greater Male' Area.
HPA had also said that 249 cases were reported from the inhabited islands and another 92 from the operational resorts.
Meanwhile yesterday, HPA reported a further 967 cases across the country with 475 new cases coming from just the capital. HPA reported another 290 cases from the inhabited islands and 87 new cases from operational resorts.
HPA had also confirmed 113 cases whose locations are yet to be determined.
With cases from the last two days, the total number of COVID cases reported in the country has now reached 101,418.
HPA had said that currently there are 5,881 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 22 people remained hospitalized for further treatment.
Although a total of 95,259 people have recovered from the illness in the Maldives, a total of 265 people have succumbed to the illness in the Maldives since April 2020.
The latest COVID death came when a 34-year-old Bangladeshi man brought to Shanivyani Feydhoo Health Center was declared dead because of the illness.
