Health Protection Agency HPA has reported another 281 new cases of COVID-19 in the country as the number of cases continues to increase in the Maldives.
HPA said yesterday that 3,601 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and that 281 samples returned a positive result. HPA said that this includes 100 cases from the Greater Male Area where the positivity rate has now reached 9 percent.
HPA reported another 88 cases from the inhabited islands and 89 from operational resorts. HPA added that it had not been able to determine the location of the four cases reported yesterday.
The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the Maldives to 97,331.
HPA said that currently there are 3,086 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 12 remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The Agency had also confirmed that the global pandemic has killed 264 people in the Maldives since April 2020.
