Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 121 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Wednesday.
HPA said that 50 of the new cases came from the inhabited islands while 37 were reported from the Greater Male' Area. The Agency also mentioned that it had confirmed 34 new cases from operational resorts in the country.
The new cases have now taken the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the island nation to 94,299 since March 2020.
HPA had said that there are currently 1,927 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 15 COVID patients remain hospitalized for further treatment.
The Agency had also said that 92,099 people have now recovered since contracting the COVID-19 virus in the Maldives.
The pandemic has claimed the lives of 260 people in the Maldives since April 2020.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases includes 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
