Health Protection Agency has confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country has surpassed 93,000.

HPA reported 218 new cases yesterday and said that 188 of the cases came from inhabited islands. In a further breakdown, HPA said that 29 of those came from Noonu Maafaru while it also said that 27 cases were reported from Thaa Vilufushi.

The Agency also reported 26 new COVID cases from Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo as well as another 21 new cases from Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo.

HPA had said that 20 of the new cases reported on Saturday had come from the Greater Male Area while it had also confirmed 10 new cases from the operational resorts.

The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country to a staggering 93,064 since March 2020.

HPA confirmed that there are 1,933 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 15 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The Agency also noted that 90,861 people have recovered from the COVID-19 illness in the Maldives.

The global pandemic has killed 258 people in the Maldives with HPA reporting the latest COVID death earlier today after an 80-year-old woman admitted at Baa Atoll COVID Management Facility succumbed to the illness earlier those morning.
