Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed more than 92,000 cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives since March 2020.
HPA said last night that yesterday it had confirmed 102 new cases of the pandemic in the country. It said that this includes 72 new cases from the inhabited islands as well as 25 new cases from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA also said that 5 new cases were reported from the operational resorts in the country yesterday.
This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 92,095.
HPA had also said that there are 1,726 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now and that 19 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The Agency added that more than 90,100 people have now recovered from the illness.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 254 people since April 2020 with three deaths reported in the last 48 hours.
HPA had reported the death of a 93-year-old local man who had succumbed to the illness while admitted at Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo Atoll Hospital yesterday while a 92-year-old man from Haa Alifu Thuraakunu also had died from the disease yesterday.
The Agency had also confirmed today that a 77-year-old local woman admitted at Hulhumale' Medical Facility had also died from the illness today.
