President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the administration is working to ease services to children and people with disabilities.

The President made the remarks speaking at the ceremony held last evening to present the Riveli Awards 2021. First Lady Fazna Ahmed accompanied the President at the ceremony.

Highlighting the government's initiatives focused on easing services to children and people with disabilities, President Solih noted that the administration launched a program in 2019 to include therapeutic treatment under the Aasandha National Health Insurance Scheme.

The State spent MVR 3.1 million in 2019, MVR 7.2 million in 2020, and MVR 18.2 million by the end of October 2021, under the scheme.

Noting that the government had continued to provide monthly disability allowances even throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, President Solih further emphasized the efforts by the government to ease the availability of mobility aids and assistive technologies for the disabled.

He shed light on the importance of providing care, love, and compassion to people with disabilities.

At the ceremony, President Solih presented the awards to six recipients of the Riveli Awards 2021 and launched a special logo for use on products designed for children with special needs and a logo for their mobility aids.
