The government says 86 percent of the vaccine-eligible population (those above 18) has received the vaccine against the COVID-19 illness.
Health Protection Agency HPA had said yesterday that 395,195 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine while 361,391 individuals out of those have now received the second dose of the vaccine.
The Agency also said that 5,390 people in the Maldives have now received the booster dose or 3rd dose of the COVID vaccine. Authorities in the Maldives are administering a dose of the Pfizer vaccine as the booster dose.
HPA had said that the booster dose is given to those who meet the eligibility criteria which includes having completed 6 months after receiving the 2nd dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (Covisheild/Astrazeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer).
HPA announced that from 20th November, all above 50 years are eligible for the booster dose.
The Agency had also said that Walk-in for Pfizer booster dose is now open in ADK and Hulhumale's hospital.
