Health Protection Agency HPA has reported another 127 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.
HPA said that that the new cases include 88 reported from the inhabited islands in the country with 25 new cases confirmed from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA added that out of the 4,183 samples tested yesterday 1,421 samples were from the capital city and that the positivity rate in the capital city is now at 2 percent.
The Agency also said another 14 new cases were from the operational resorts in the country.
A total of 89,840 cases of COVID-19 has now been reported in the Maldives since March 2020.
HPA said that currently, 2,196 people remained as active cases of COVID-19 and that 87,384 people have now recovered from the illness.
The agency said that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now dropped to 8.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 247 people in the Maldives with mostly elderly locals with underlying health conditions succumbing to the fast-spreading illness.
