Employees working at the Air traffic control services (ATC) have submitted a petition to Maldives Airports Company sharing concerns about difficult work conditions and other issues.

The petition was submitted to MACL with the signature of 50 employees currently working at the ATC. This includes 90 percent of the employees working at the ATC Tower at Velana International and 80 percent of ATC employees working across the country.

An ATC services employee who spoke to "The Press" on the condition of anonymity said that they decided to submit a petition to MACL because difficult working conditions and other issues have prolonged without any solution.

The employee said that if the company is unable to find respite for these worries, the ATC Services employees are prepared to take their concerns to the government.

The individual also said that there are inequalities in pay for ATC Services employees and most have left their jobs in the Maldives to seek better employment in regions like the middle east.

The petition by the ATC Services employees says that it has shared the difficult work conditions and other issues with several government organizations over the last three years and no solution has yet been found for these issues.

ATC Services employees also said that while the concerns they have highlighted remained unaddressed, top management received promotions under a new structure last month.

The petition said that the new structure has failed to allay the concerns of the employees and the purpose of the petition is to bring this to the attention of MACL.

While the ATC Services Employees had submitted a petition today, last month pilots working in the Maldives had gone on strike to protest against their salary structure.

The pilots took their concerns to the President in a meeting held last month.
