Education Ministry says more than 30,500 students in the Maldives have now been given two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and are fully vaccinated against the pandemic.
In its latest vaccination update, the Ministry said that 36,029 students have now received the first dose of the vaccine in the Maldives and that they are from 218 schools across the country.
The Ministry said that out of these schools, 218 schools have now administered the second dose of the vaccine to 30,571 of their students and that they are now fully vaccinated against the illness.
The Ministry began the COVID vaccination program for the students last month and had said that all the students between the ages of 12 and 17 years are eligible to receive the vaccine.
The Education Ministry had said that the program had started in schools across the country and that around 35,000 students are eligible to receive the vaccine.
Authorities in the Maldives are administering the US-manufactured Pfizer vaccine in its student vaccination program.
