The President's Office has dismissed the accusations made by the former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed where he alleged that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was involved in the MMPRC Scandal.

In a news conference held last night, Ali Waheed said that the President had accepted MVR 35 million of the illegal funds obtained through the scandal and that former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb had handed the money over to the President who was then the leader of MDP Parliamentary Group.

He also alleged that Police would have CCTV footage of the President carrying the money from the site of the exchange.

Speaking to "The Press", Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said that President Solih had said before that he had not done anything that would compromise himself and that he made this clear in a news conference before.

Mabrook went on to say that President Solih's name was missing from the list of politicians who were said to be involved or had benefited from the scam.

He said that if the accuser had proof of the President's involvement in corruption, then such evidence should be put forward.

Through the virtual news conference, Ali Waheed made several accusations against the members of the current government including high-level targets like the President, the Prosecutor General, and the Attorney General.

Ali Waheed who was fired from his post after several female staff from the Tourism Ministry made sexual harassment accusations against him also said that the charges against him are politically motivated.
