Health Protection Agency HPA says more than 300,000 people have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives.

In its latest vaccination update, HPA said that up until the 23rd of this month, 376,630 people have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine in the country.

HPA said that out of this, 300,064 people have now received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and are fully vaccinated against the fast-spreading disease.

The Agency has set up 6 vaccination centers and 3 mobile units in the Greater Male' Area while 176 vaccination centers across the Atolls are administering the shots in the country.

Authorities in the Maldives are currently administering three types of COVID vaccines including Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer vaccine.

Yesterday, HPA had announced that it would be administering the Pfizer vaccine to all those above 60 years of age who had not received any other COVID vaccines.

The government had also been administering the Pfizer vaccine to children between the ages of 12 and 17 in the country.

On Tuesday the education Ministry had said that more than 25,000 students across the country have now received the first dose of the vaccine.

The government aims to vaccinate 90 percent of the vaccine-eligible population by the end of this month.
