Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that the Maldives has reported a total of 79,000 cases of COVID-19 in the country since March 2020.
HPA said last night that 79 new cases were reported in the country on Saturday. It said that this included 51 new cases from inhabited islands, 13 new cases from the Greater Male' Area, and 10 new cases from operational resorts.
The Agency also said that the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country had now dropped to 1,735 with 77,031 recoveries in the country.
HPA said that 18 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has claimed the lives of 222 people here in the Maldives and most of those who lost their lives to the pandemic include elderly individuals with underlying health conditions.
The Health Protection Agency HPA had also said that the total number of COVID-19 cases include 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19
