Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says a fake account on the new social media platform Club House is impersonating him and that the person is creating discord.
In a tweet, Nasheed said that his only clubhouse account is under the name mohamednasheed and that he does not know the identity of the impersonator.
The Speaker also asked Clubhouse to clarify the situation.
In a separate tweet by Nasheed's fake Twitter account under the name of Alex Ahmed, he said again that another user was impersonating him on Clubhouse and he had no accounts under the name of Alex Ahmed.
Nasheed said he uses only Twitter and Facebook under the name of Alex Ahmed and Aneh Dhivehi raaje.
The clubhouse app has become quite popular in the Maldives with government offices, companies, political parties, politicians, NGOs, and individuals hosting conversations on the app.
The clubhouse is a social audio app for iOS and Android where users can communicate in audio chat rooms that accommodate groups of thousands of people.
