Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says charges for five more have been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's Office in relation to the MMPRC scandal.
Speaking to "The Press", Mabrook said that 4 people have been sentenced in relation to the MMPRC scandal and that charges for five others had been sent to the PG office.
Mabrook added that the PG Office had sent back 4 other cases citing lack of information.
He also said that 12 other cases that relate to the scandal are in the later stages of their investigations.
The MMPRC scandal is one of the most elaborate and widespread scandals the country has seen and last May authorities investigating the scandal had said that it includes 218 individuals.
The Asset recovery Commission had highlighted 14 names that it recommends the PG office to charge over the scandal.
Meanwhile, the anti-corruption Commission had requested the PG Office to charge currently youth Minister Mahloof Ahmed in relation to the scandal back in June.
While the Minister was asked to step aside from his duties, the PG Office is yet to formally charge Mahloof.
