Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem says the PG Office won't charge a key suspect of the May 6th attack against Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed after four others were formally charged.

Speaking at a press conference, PG Shameem said the state won't pursue criminal charges against Ahmed Fathihu, who had been arrested in direct connection to the near-fatal attack against the former President.

PG Shameem said that based on the evidence presented to the PG Office, there is no room to charge Fathihu with any crime yet but that the investigation would continue.

He also said that investigators would be further questioning Fathihu who is currently under police custody.

Police had said before that Fathihu had worked in the police intel before resigning from the force and had said that he had been radicalized after he had left the police office.

Meanwhile, PG Shameem had today said that four had been formally charged in relation to the attack against former President Mohamed Nasheed in May of this month.
