Islamic Ministry says there would no mass congregational Eid prayers in the Greater Male' Area in the upcoming Eid-al Adha.
Speaking to "The Press" media official at the Ministry Ismail Afrah confirmed that mass congregational eid prayers would be held in Male' but communal Eid prayers would be held in mosques across the capital city.
He also said that island councils of islands with no reported cases of COVID-19 can request permission to hold mass congregational Eid prayers and permission would be granted.
Congregational Eid prayers were banned in the capital city during Fitr Eid, as the country was battling the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But the number of cases had been dropping since the start of last month and authorities in the Maldives had allowed communal prayers in the capital city earlier this month.
Authorities had eased several restrictions amid the huge drop in COVID cases including allowing those who are fully vaccinated against the pandemic to travel without having to quarantine.
