Health Protection Agency HPA says authorities have now resumed administering the Covishield vaccine to those who have yet to receive their second dose of the vaccine after its administration was halted due to shortage.

In an announcement, the Agency confirmed that it plans to resume administering the 2nd dose of the vaccine today and that it is giving the vaccine on an appointment basis.

HPA said that the agency would be calling those who had received the first dose of the vaccine in February 2021 starting today and that the appointments would be given in the vaccination order.

The Agency urged those who are given a vaccination appointment to be diligent in going to the vaccination centers for their inoculation during the allocated time.

HPA confirmed that the 2nd dose of the Covishield vaccine would only be given on an appointment basis.

The Agency requested those going to receive the vaccination to take their National Identity card or any official document of identification along with their COVID vaccination card.

HPA also said that individuals must not have any symptoms of the COVID pandemic nor must be under quarantine. It advised recipients to wear loose-fitting clothes when coming for vaccination and to come with a full stomach as well as to bring their own water bottle.

The Agency added that each recipient is advised to bring only one other person as a helper unless necessary.
