Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed two more COVID-19 deaths in the country today.

HPA said via Twitter that last night at 10:35, a 90-year-old Maldivian woman admitted at IGMH had passed. HPA reported that this is the 211th COVID-19 death in the country.

Meanwhile, HPA had today reported a COVID death from the COVID facility in Gaafu Alifu Villigilli.

HPA said that earlier this morning at 04:55 am, an 81-year-old local woman admitted at the facility succumbed to the illness.

The Agency said that this is the 212th individual to die from COVID-19 and the first person to die from the pandemic this month.

Last month a total of 50 people had died from COVID-19 with most deaths coming from the Hulhumale' Medical Facility.

The month of May remains the month with the highest COVID-19 fatalities ever recorded since the pandemic hit the country's shores last year.

A total of 88 people had been killed due to the pandemic in the Maldives in May where the Maldives fought off its worst pandemic wave yet.
