Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed another 266 new cases in the Maldives on Friday.
HPA had said that out of the 266 new cases reported yesterday, 112 came from an island under development in Raa Atoll. HPA also confirmed 41 new cases from the Greater Male' Area and 105 new cases from the Atolls.
The Agency said that yesterday 8 cases were confirmed operational resorts across the country
The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country since March 2020 to 72,944.
HPA confirmed a total of 68,429 recoveries in the country and said that there are 4,295 active cases of the pandemic currently in the Maldives.
The Agency added that 31 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized due to the illness, a significant drop as the number was beyond 200 at the start of the month.
The steady drop in new cases has prompted the HPA to ease some of the restrictions implemented to fight the pandemic, especially in the Greater Male' Area.
This includes shortening the curfew hours from 06:00 pm to 04:00 am every day.
But residents are still required to acquire a police permit to go out during non-curfew hours.
