Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed two more COVID-19 deaths in the country today, including that of a 100-year-old man.

HPA said via Twitter today that the man under treatment at DH11, the 11th floor of the Dharumavantha hospital, had succumbed to the illness at 09:33 am this morning.

Earlier, the agency had said that an 86-year-old man under treatment at the Hulhumale' medical facility had also passed away due to the pandemic.

The two deaths take the country's death toll to 187 since April 2020.

HPA had reported 26 COVID-19 deaths this month so far and it is now threatening to overtake last month as the month with the highest COVID fatalities since the pandemic hit the country.

Last month HPA had confirmed 88 COVID-19 deaths in the country.

Meanwhile, the daily COVID-19 cases reported in the country continued to fall on Sunday with the HPA confirming 412 new cases in the country yesterday.

It said that 239 cases came from the Greater Male' Area where authorities are implementing strict measures and that 162 new cases were confirmed from inhabited islands.

The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the island nation to 67,950 with 48,086 recoveries.
