Police have confirmed that a young man had died in a motorcycle accident reported in Male' City last night.
Police said that the accident had occurred when the cycle that had been traveling at a high speed had crashed into a cart stationed at Huvafenee Goalhi of Male' around 10:00 pm last night.
They said that the young man who died in the accident had been riding on the backseat of the motorcycle and that he had succumbed to his injuries while under treatment at ADK hospital.
Police confirmed that the victim was a 22-year-old local man.
This accident had occurred as security services implemented a stricter curfew in the Greater Male Area in a bid to control the rampant COVID-19 pandemic.
Authorities had said earlier that the curfew would now run from 04:00 pm to 08:00 am every day starting yesterday and that residents would not be allowed to go out without a police-issued pass during non-curfew hours as well.
