Chairperson of Maldives Technical Advisory Group on Immunization and renowned Pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal says Maldivian authorities are going to offer the Pfizer vaccine to pregnant women in the country.

Dr. Faisal said this in a reply to a tweet by a pregnant Healthcare professional who voiced her concerns about working against the pandemic without getting vaccinated against the illness.

The doctor did not reveal any other information regarding the latest update.

Dr. Faisal had revealed yesterday that the number of pregnant women and women who recently gave birth had become more and more susceptible to the pandemic lately. He assured that the babies are generally healthy.

Last night, a consultant at the Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC Dr. Aishath Eleena also said that a high number of expectant mothers are now testing positive for COVID-19 and many had been seeking treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital.

She also said that this includes a pregnant woman in serious condition and that she is currently admitted at DH11 of the hospital.
