Thaa Atoll Hospital confirms that a total of 53 individuals have now tested positive for COVID-19 from Veymandoo of the same Atoll until 06:00 pm yesterday.

In a tweet, it said that yesterday 10 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on the island and that there are 48 active positive cases on the island.

It also said that a total of 338 samples had been taken for COVID testing and that while 134 had tested negative for the illness, 155 samples remained pending in the laboratories.

The hospital also revealed that 1 COVID patient had been transferred to the nearest COVID facility and that 104 houses on the island were currently under monitoring.

The island was placed under monitoring after two patients who had been transferred to Male' from the Atoll hospital on the Island had tested positive for COVID-19 and this includes an elderly woman and a younger woman.

Yesterday, the elderly woman had succumbed to the pandemic while under treatment for the fast-spreading disease.

Authorities had placed 6 islands in Thaa Atoll under monitoring in a bid to curb the further spread of the illness and this includes Veymandoo, Vilifushi, Kinbidhoo, Omadhoo, Madifushi, and Gaadhifushi.
