Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 95 new cases of COVID-19 in the country as government reveals plans for quarantine-less traveling within the country after months of restrictions.

HPA said in its daily tweet that out of the 95 cases 59 were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that 22 cases were confirmed from the Atolls. HPA also said that another 11 cases were confirmed from operational reports while 3 cases of COVID-19 were reported from industrial islands.

The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country closer to 26,000 at 25,939.

HPA also revealed that a total of 23,242 people have now recovered from the illness leaving 2,621 as active cases of the pandemic here in the Maldives.

It said that the number of COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized for further treatment has now fallen to 58.

The devastating global pandemic has killed 67 people in the country including 60 locals and 7 foreigners.

HPA has also confirmed that the total positives include 9 deceased positive whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had revealed today that soon, those who have received their 2nd doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can travel freely within the country. But he had said that they must have had two weeks pass after they had received their second dose of the vaccine.
