Authorities have seized the passport of the managing editor of local news outlet 'Adhadhu' after police launched an investigation into a documentary it produced alleging President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of sexual misconduct and abuse of power.

This comes after last night's raid on the outlet's office in Male' in which police took away electronic equipment from the office about the documentary titled "Aisha", in which an anonymous female source recounted an illicit relationship between her and the President.

Authorities have also seized the passport of Hussain Fiyaz, the Chief Editor and CEO of Adhadhu.

The Court Order cites credible intelligence reports alleging that both the Chief Editor and Managing Editor of the outlet were seeking to flee the country.

Both individuals have been banned from travelling outside the country till July of this month.

At a press conference held yesterday, the President denied the allegations depicted in the documentary and stated that he would be taking legal action against those who made these allegations.

Before the 2023 Presidential Elections, "Adhadhu" released a documentary alleging that the then-Presidential Candidate Muizzu had caused emotional harm to his stepmother after his father's death.
