Health Protection Agency HPA has begun administering the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine in the Greater Male' Area today.
HPA had said that due to the limited amount of the vaccine currently available, it is being administered to pre-registered individuals and on an appointment basis.
HPA had said that it is being administered at ADK Hospital in Male' and Hulhumale' Hospital.
HPA had said that registration for the vaccine is open to children of the ages of 16 and 17 who are currently battling a long-term illness as well as those above 60 years of age who are seeking treatment for a chronic health condition.
The Agency had also said that immunocompromised individuals between the ages of 18 and 60 are also eligible for the vaccine.
HPA is currently overseeing the administration of the first dose of both the Pfizer Vaccine and Sinopharm vaccine in the Greater Male' Area and the 2nd dose of the Covishield vaccine across the country.
Yesterday, the agency had confirmed that a total of 268,459 people have been given the first dose of the vaccine while 15,294 people have received the 2nd dose of the vaccine across the country.
