Elections Commission says that it would announce the temporary results of the local council elections and women's development committee elections later today.
Voting for the elections was held nationwide yesterday with over 700 ballot boxes around the country.
President of the Commission Ahmed Shareef said that ballot counting was ongoing for some vote boxes and that temporary voting results would be announced once these ballot boxes are counted.
The latest, election result shows that the majority ruling party MDP had lost its hold on the Male' City Council while in Addu, it had lost its supermajority at the council.
Although MDP had lost some of the seats it had been securing in successive elections, the majority of the council seats have been won by the ruling party.
