Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that more than 25,500 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives since March of 2020.

HPA said on Saturday that an additional 88 people have tested positive for the illness in the Maldives and that this includes 37 people from the Greater Male' Area.

The Agency said that 31 cases were confirmed from the islands while 20 were reported from operational resorts across the country.

This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 25,524.

HPA also said that there 3,019 active cases of the pandemic here in the Maldives while 78 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The agency confirmed that 22,429 people have now recovered from the illness in the country.

The global pandemic has killed 67 people in the Maldives and this includes 60 locals and 7 foreigners.

HPA had also said that the confirmed cases include 9 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
