Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that 57 percent of the total eligible population in Maldives have now received their first dose of Covid-19 Vaccine.
HPA said that a total of 4,742 people had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives today and that this includes 376 from the Greater Male' Area and 4,366 from the Atolls.
This takes the total number of individuals who received the first dose to a promising 255,881 which the HPA said is 59 percent of the total eligible population in the Maldives.
Currently, HPA is administering only the Sinopharm vaccine as the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Greater Male' Area and is administering Covishield vaccine to those who require the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Agency had confirmed that a total of 2,198 people across the country had been given the second dose of the vaccine today.
HPA said that this includes 2,116 from the Greater Male' Area and 82 people from the Atolls.
This takes the total number of individuals who are now fully immunized to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives to 7,951.
HPA had also informed that on Wednesday the second dose of the Covishield vaccine would be given to individuals who received their first dose between 1-10th February.
It also said people who had received the first dose 8 weeks prior can also get the 2nd jab of the vaccine while it would allow individuals who need to travel overseas after 4 weeks from receiving the first dose. HPA added that those individuals must submit their itineraries.
