Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that more than 25,000 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives since March of 2020.
HPA said today that an additional 145 people have tested positive for the illness in the Maldives and that this includes 85 people from the Greater Male' Area.
The Agency said that 39 cases were confirmed from the islands while 19 were reported from operational resorts and 2 cases confirmed from industrial islands.
This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 25,053.
HPA also said that there 3,079 active cases of the pandemic here in the Maldives while 73 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The agency confirmed that 21,898 people have now recovered from the illness in the country.
The global pandemic has killed 67 people in the Maldives and this includes 60 locals and 7 foreigners. HPA had also said that the confirmed cases include 9 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
