Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that more than 1700 individuals have now received two doses of the Covishield vaccine as the agency began administering the 2nd dose of the vaccine yesterday.
HPA said that yesterday 1,149 people had received the 2nd dose of the Covishield vaccine and that the total number of individuals who have completed their vaccination doses has now reached 1,721.
HPA is only giving the second dose of the vaccine in the Greater Male' Area alone at the moment.
Although it had started administering the second dose of the vaccine yesterday, HPA had been administering the second dose for those who might miss their second dose due to their travel plans. HPA had said that it had administered the second dose to such individuals who have to travel abroad to study or for medical purposes and have only given the vaccine upon case-by-case review with all the relevant documents.
HPA had said that it would continue administering the second dose in the Greater Male' Area today as well and that it would open for those who received their first dose of Covishield vaccine between 1-7th February and to people who have received their first dose of the Covishield vaccine 8 weeks prior.
Meanwhile, HPA had said yesterday that a total of 243,749 people across the country have now received the first dose of the COVID vaccine. HPA said that yesterday 409 people from the Greater Male' Area and 2,213 people from the Atolls had received the first dose of the vaccine.
HPA has said that there are 09 vaccination centers and 2 mobile teams in the Greater Male Area and that authorities have set up 237 vaccination centers across the Atolls.
