Health Protection Agency HPA has lifted the 6-hour curfew it had imposed in the Greater Male' Area to quell the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

In an announcement issued via the government gazette today, HPA said that it had canceled the 11:00 pm to 04:00 am curfew that had been in place in the Greater Male' Area since earlier this year.

HPA had also eased several other restrictive measures currently in place in the capital city and this includes allowing cinemas and theaters to open for business as per the guidelines set by HPA.

HPA also said that cafes and restaurants operating in the Greater Male' Area can resume full services as per the guidelines set by the relevant government authority.

The Agency also said that running tracks across the city would now be open for public use and that gyms and exercise classes would be allowed as per the guidelines set by HPA.

HPA noted that universities and colleges would now be allowed to conduct physical classes while pre-schools in the area are now allowed to resume as per the guidelines set by the Education Ministry.

HPA added that daycares can also resume operations.

These measures were eased as HPA confirmed the highest number of daily cases reported in the month of March yesterday with 241 new cases reported across the country on Wednesday.

This includes 73 from the Greater Male' Area, 74 from the Atolls, and 79 from industrial islands.
