Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed an additional 241 cases of COVID-19 as the number of daily cases continues to rise in the Maldives.
HPA said via Twitter that the new cases include 73 from the Greater Male' Area and that another 74 tested positive for the illness in the Atolls. HPA revealed that 15 islands in the Atolls are currently under monitoring with 647 active cases of COVID-19
The Agency said that 79 new cases were confirmed from industrial/islands used for other purposes and that 15 other cases were reported from operational resorts.
This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to a staggering 24,079 in the Maldives as 21,155 recovered from the illness.
HPA said that 2,849 remained as active cases of the pandemic in the Maldives right now and that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has now increased to 99.
The global pandemic has killed 67 people in the Maldives as a 66-year-old man succumbed to the illness earlier today.
The 67 who had died from COVID-19 in the Maldives include 60 locals and 7 foreigners.
