Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 121 new COVID-19 cases in the Maldives today.
In its daily update via Twitter, HPA said that new cases include 49 cases from the Greater Male' Area and 46 new cases from the Atolls.
HPA also confirmed 12 new cases from operational resorts while another 13 cases were detected from industrial islands/islands used for other purposes and a single case was reported from a safari.
The new cases take the total COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 23,524 since March of last year. HPA had said that 20,723 people have since recovered from the illness while 2,728 remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients continued to drop today with 93 admitted in the hospitals right now.
The global pandemic has killed 66 in the Maldives since April of 2020 and this includes 59 locals and 7 foreigners. Four individuals had died so far this month while last month 10 individuals succumbed to the fast-spreading illness.
Health Protection Agency has taken several restrictive measures to quell the pandemic in the country especially in the Greater Male' Area where the infection is rampant.
But last week, the Agency drew concern after it had eased some of the measures despite the steady incline of new COVID-19 cases in the country.
