Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC says that an individual who returned from Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo had tested positive for COVID-19 in Meedhoo of the same Atoll and that Meedhoo has now been placed under monitoring.

In its latest news briefing HEOC said that the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 had returned to Meedhoo after the 26th of last month.

It also said that 60 contacts of the individual have now been identified from Meedhoo and that authorities are now taking their samples for COVID testing.

HEOC said that 22 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed from the community outbreak in Kudahuvadhoo and that 155 contacts have been identified for the cases.

It added that more than 420 samples have now been taken from the island including random samples to further determine the scope of the community outbreak.

Meedhoo joins another 6 islands currently under Health Protection Agency HPA monitoring following potential community outbreak cases of COVID-19.

The other six islands include Noonu Atoll Lhohi, Raa Atoll Ungoofaaru, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Fenfushi, Alifu Alifu Atoll Thoddu, Faafu Nilandhoo, and Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo.
