MP for Henveyru Dhekunu constituency and deputy leader of MPD parliamentary group Hussain Shaheem has apologized for the comments he made about sanitary napkins during a debate on the parliamentary floor.
In a bizarre line of comments, MP Shaheem had said that opposition MP and former defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar wore sanitary napkins when attending parliamentary sittings.
He went onto say that he had seen blood on MP Shareef's pants from a leaked napkin.
These comments were met with vehement opposition on social media where many users voiced outrage over the MP's ill-fated comments.
In a tweet today, MP Shaheem apologized for his comments that degraded women and said that he now knows that such comments can be accepted in any circumstances.
The MP also said that he would be more considerate in using such examples and comments in the future.
