President Ibrahim Mohamed says his administration has no intention of dissolving the ruling coalition government.
He said this at a rare press conference held by the President this evening.
Answering a question by a journalist, President Solih said that his administration is committed to the current coalition government and has no intention of terminating the coalition.
President Solih said that the coalition government would complete its five-year term and that the ruling government would oversee it.
The President also that with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, he had not been able to meet with other political leaders within the coalition and that this might come off as a sign of a weakening coalition.
Solih insisted that he keeps regular contact with leaders of the other parties in the coalition and that key decisions are made with their recommendations and views.
This comes after several signs of a weakening coalition as another cabinet Minister from a minor party in the coalition government bit the dust last month after Communications Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal was removed from office by the parliament.
Five Ministers from Solih's cabinet have either resigned, removed, or fired from office since he came into power and all these slots on the cabinet belong to other coalition parties.
