Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 115 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic as the country struggles to ride-out the third wave of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

HPA said in its daily update that out of the 115 new cases reported on Tuesday, 98 were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area while another 12 were reported from operational resorts.

HPA confirmed an additional 5 cases from inhabited islands across the country.

The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 21,034.

HPA had said that out of that 18,428 people have now recovered from the illness and that 2,535 remained as active cases of the pandemic.

The Agency informed that 165 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The Pandemic has killed 64 people in the Maldives including 57 locals and 7 foreigners.

Last month alone, 10 individuals succumbed to the pandemic while two have died so far this month.

Health Officials have been tightening the restrive measures taken against the pandemic especially in the Greater Male' Area where the infection remains rampant.

These measures include imposing a curfew and a vehicle ban in the country's bustling capital while also ordering cafes and restaurants to close down for dining at 08:00 pm.

HPA had said that such establishments can do takeaway and deliver orders till 10:30 pm.
