HPA also revealed that 186 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized for further treatment at the moment. The devastating pandemic has killed 52 individuals here in the Maldives including 45 locals and 7 foreigners.
The drop in COVID-19 cases come as authorities announced new restrictive measures to further deter the spread of the pandemic. This includes imposing a vehicular ban in the Greater Male' Area from tonight onwards and also extend curfew hours previously imposed in the Capital City.
Authorities had also ordered the closures of all pre-schools and daycares in the Male' Area until further notice while individuals on essential travels to the Atolls are now required to present a negative PCR test.
Health Officials have also mandated that facemask is now compulsory in all the inhabited islands across the country as the Maldives looks to ride out the 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
