Maldives Customs Services has confirmed that Maldivian authorities had seized 21 boxes of shark fins at Velaana International Airport today.
Customs said that the fins were seized in a joint operation conducted by Customs and Aviation Security Command and that the seized shark fins weighed about 429 kg.
Customs also said that the shark fins were concealed in a shipment declared as salt fish. It added that further investigations were currently ongoing.
