Health Protection Agency HPA says 34 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country on Thursday.

In a tweet, HPA said that this includes 15 new cases from the Greater Male’ Area, 9 new cases reported from inhabited islands, 8 new cases confirmed from operational resorts, and two from safaris.

HPA also said that this takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 13,308.

HPA also revealed that 30 people have recovered from the illness today in the Maldives and that the total number of recoveries has now reached 12,621 in the Maldives.

The Agency said that the active cases of COVID-19 in the country has now dropped to 633 and that 66 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

HPA had confirmed that 47 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives since April of this year including 40 locals and 7 foreigners.

Yesterday, Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC had unveiled the COVID-19 vaccination plan for the country and had said that the vaccine would be rolled out in the first quarter of next year.

HEOC had said that frontline workers battling the pandemic would be the first recipients of the vaccine followed by those at high risk of developing complications due to the COVID-19 illness.
