Health Protection Agency HPA reports that another Maldivian has succumbed to COVID-19 in the country in the space of two days.

In a tweet, HPA said that today at 10:50 am, a 79-old Maldivian male admitted at HMF ICU had passed away.

It said that this is the 43rd COVID19 death in the Maldives since April of this year and the 5th person to die from COVID-19 in the Maldives this month.

Yesterday a 57-year-old local man died from COVID-19 while under treatment at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility ICU.

The 43 people who have succumbed to the illness in the country include 36 locals and 7 foreigners.

Yesterday, HPA said that the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in the country has now reached 12,154 with 42 new cases reported on Saturday.

HPA said that there are 843 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 246 individuals are currently in isolation. HPA added that 49 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

A total of 11,262 people has recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
