Health Protection Agency HPA has eased some of the restrictive measures taken in the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic.

In a declaration released last night, HPA slashed the curfew hours imposed in the Greater Male’ Area and stated the new hours as from 12:00 pm to 4:00 am. It said that vehicles and pedestrians are banned from the roads during these hours until further notice.

HPA also announced that a maximum of 15 people can now gather in public spaces and would allow public parks and museums to open now.

The Agency noted that it would also allow the resumption of contact sports and outdoor sports now and spectators can now go and watch sports but only in crowds of 15 or less. It advised such crowds to always wear masks and to maintain a 3ft distance from other spectators.

HPA also announced that all can travel from the Greater Male’ Area to the islands even without an essential need but reaffirmed that all travelers should stay at home quarantine for 14 days once they reach their destination.

HPA said even with these eases, the public should maintain self-hygiene by carrying hand sanitizer and also that wearing facemasks in the Greater Male’ Area remained mandatory
