Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal says every nation must work with other countries to successfully ensure its own security.

Speaking in an interview with public broadcast PSM, Shamaal said all countries including major superpowers and smaller states must work with other countries for their security.

He said that no country can achieve security while remaining isolated from others.

Shamaal said that the Maldives lies in a strategic position on the Indian Ocean and that it is vital to cooperate with others to ensure our security.

Touching on the attack of November 3rd, the Chief of Defense Force said that the Maldivian armed forces were ill-prepared for such an attack and the country's armed forces started resembling a military only after that attack.

He highlighted that the military established special trainings after that attack and that it had started accumulating weapons and generally strengthening the armed forces after those attacks.
