Health Protection Agency HPA says 24 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives yesterday and that this takes the total positive cases reported in the country closer to 11,600.

In a tweet, HPA said that 22 cases reported in the Greater Male’ Area and that 2 cases were confirmed from the islands.

The new cases included 20 locals and 4 foreigners. With this, a total of 11,591 individuals have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.

Meanwhile, HPA said that 33 others had recovered from COVID-19 in the country yesterday and that the total recoveries have now reached 10,685.

HPA reported that currently there are 862 active cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives and that 277 remains at isolation facilities. It also confirmed that 52 COVID-19 patients are being hospitalized for further treatment.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 37 lives here in the Maldives including 31 locals and 6 foreigners.
