Health Protection Agency HPA has placed Haa Dhaalu Atoll Kulhudhuffushi under monitoring again four more individuals test positive for COVID-19 from the island city.

HPA had placed the island city under monitoring around 10:35 pm last night and has now banned unauthorized entry and exit from Kulhudhuffushi.

The new positive cases identified from the island city include a 75-year-old, a 35-year-old, and two children below the age of 10. These individuals are believed to have been contacts of a previous positive case from the island city.

This is the third time Kulhudhuffushi had placed under monitoring with HPA saying that it would be taken off the monitoring list once contact tracing for the new cases is completed.

Meanwhile, HPA said last night the number of COVID-19 recoveries recorded in the country has surpassed 10,097.

HPA said that now a total of 11,178 people has now tested positive for COVID-19 in the country including the 24 cases reported yesterday.

The Agency said that 1038 people remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 369 individuals were currently under isolation. HPA added that 43 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

The pandemic has killed 36 individuals in the country since April including 30 locals and 6 foreigners.
